setting

Come See About Me's main setting is the town of Oakville, which is part of the the Greater Toronto Area. Oakville has a population of roughly 183,000 and sits on the shores of Lake Ontario. In effect, the town becomes Leah's soft place to fall when she must leave the Toronto apartment she and Bastien shared. During the course of the book the below locations become familiar parts of Leah's world.

Towne Square, downtown Oakville. At Xmas the tree goe s up not far from this clock.
One of the benches by Lake Ontario where Leah often sits, Oakville.
Towne Square, downtown Oakville where Leah & Liam have a discussion at the end of chapter 14.
Canadian Geese, shores of Lake Ontario, Oakville. Leah often hangs out here.
Liam's apartment, downtown Oakville.
Abigail's Oakville neighbourhood near downtown Oakville, where Leah stays.
The fruit market Leah frequents, Allan Street, downtown Oakville.
Oakville pier, setting of a scene from the end of Chapter 11.

The stretch of Lakeshore Road where you'd find The Cunning Cafe.

I envisioned The Cunning Café as being very similar to
Isabella's Pasta Café (formally The Colbourne Street
Café) and occupying roughtly the same spot .

O'Keefe's British and Irish Delights, where Leah works, is a composite of several real-life import stores.

O'Keefe's British and Irish Delights is very much like a
combination of downtown Oakville's Candy Cupboard
(which is filled with British import foods as well as
Scottish goods), Bronte's British Eats & Treats (which
also sells baked goods and DVDS of British TVs and
movies, and Niagara-on-the-lake's Scottish Loft.

The Rose and Crown is a composite of The Queen's Head & The King's Arms, downtown Oakville.
